Ed Fogell Jr. and his guiding light and soulmate Terry Daukus “Babycakes”, fell deeply in love and tied the emotional knot and started living together in 1972. They both went on the road with Ed’s bands for many years before they legally got married on August 17th 1979 in a ceremony performed by a judge in Lincoln Park Chicago, IL flower garden right in front of the Lincoln Park Fountain.
In 2007 Ed and Terry received the blessings of the Catholic Church of their commitment to each other by getting married at St Hyicinth Church in Chicago performed by Father Charlie Becker. As part of the after church get together at their home on South Mason Ave., Ed produced this video for all to view, as a tribute to their undying love for each other.

I came across this video that I edited awhile back for Terry and I’s church wedding. I always enjoyed this footage back when, but when I went thru it thru this 2011 holiday season,, I couldn’t believe how awesome and well constructed it was. I never said that before about my work, but looking at it today, knowing that I put it together quickly to make it in time for our 2007 church wedding, and I was flying by the seat of my pants, it had occurred to me that there must have been some kind of Divine intervention here, for I didn’t script this one out, I just pasted it together by instinct and somehow, it came out so beautifully perfect. For example, the video covers where we were at, at the same ages, Then at the age where we first came together, the music “Got To Get You Into My Life” comes in. It shows photos of the beach at Daytona. This was early in our relationship and Terry was confused about the whole thing, because I was married at the time and Terry, to get away, to think things out, ran off to Daytona Beach, Florida to stay with her girlfriend, Christine. Well, the song lyrics in the music says, “I walked alone, I took a ride, I didn’t know what I would find there”. It continues on with “Ooh, when I suddenly seen you, Ooh, I just had to be near you, every single day of my life”. It fit perfectly. For the back story was, that I was heartsick, at the time that she left. Feeling so alone, I took a chance at the spare of the moment, left Terry’s parents house and immediately drove about 1000 miles, not knowing what I would find or how it would turn out. There I was, at about 3:00 in the morning, knocking on a stranger’s door, not even knowing if I had the right address. With my heart pounding. her girlfriend answers the door. She goes to Terry and says, “there’s some guy at the door who says he’s from Chicago, When we saw each other. it was a moment out of a romance novel, With our arms locked tightly around each other, we just couldn’t let go and we both knew at that very moment in time, that this was forever and the rest was history. Terry’s mom gave me her address out there and Terry told me later, that she asked her mom why she did that, when she told her mom she wanted to get away. Her mom just said, “The way you talked about Ed, I knew right then and there that there wouldn’t be anyone else in the world that would make you happy”. The whole scene was like something out of a romantic movie! That kind of thing is happening all over the video. Unplanned. Being so enthralled, I just called out to God in the middle of it, with a heartfelt BIG “Thank You” for the wonderful gifts that He has given me over the years. I saw where I came from; family, friends, the journey I traveled and the unbelievable Blessings that I had received. The joy of watching this video, at this time, during the holidays, was overwhelming. It brought uncontrollable tears just gushing from my eyes, But they were not tears of pain, they were tears joy and thanks , Thanking God for His Love and being entrusted with one of His Crown Jewels, Terry.
I also particularly love the tag clips inserted after the ending credits.
I know Terry has to be with me today,. Our very souls are just way to fused together, not to be. Our lives are very fragile but “true love” and spiritual bonding, is definitely forever. When someone talks about “soul mates” I know exactly what that is. I know I’m still going through a rough time here, that I may never get over until we are reunited once again but those thoughts, along with yours and others caring and prayers, will help carry me through this and holiday seasons to come.
Thank you and God Bless you all.
